"Discovering Altai" in the Altai Regional Center for Access to the Resources of the Presidential Library

On the site of the Altai Regional Center of the Presidential Library, which operates on the basis of the V. Y. Shishkov Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library, the next course of lectures on the regional network of cultural and educational project "Discovering Altai", helping youth in the study of the history of a small homeland, began. 

The project is to conduct courses in local lore lectures online. The main characteristic of the project is a high level of quality of information material. Lecture courses are read by leading experts of Siberia that not only provides a high level of lectures using local history material, but also serves to introduce modern scientific achievements in the educational process in the educational institutions of the region.

Conducting lectures in the webinar mode allows students of educational institutions in all regions of the Altai Territory and neighboring regions to become active participants of the project.

In 2017, within the framework of the Year of Ecology in Russia and the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Altai Territory, a second course of lectures - "Old Metallurgy of Western Siberia", dedicated to the mining history of the Altai District of the XVIII-XIX centuries, is held. Lectures are read by Vitaly Valeryevich Vedernikov, a professor in the Altai Institute of Economics, Doctor of Historical Sciences, a recognized expert in the history of non-ferrous metallurgy in Western Siberia.

This topic was not chosen by chance. The history of the Altai Territory begins with the development of mining production. The material of the lecture course is presented in the context of the world and national history, the influence of regional events on the domestic history is shown. The lecture course reveals the history of administrative and economic centers that grew out of workers' settlements of old mines and factories, including those located on the territory of Kemerovo, Novosibirsk region, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This time pupils of schools № 113 and 126, gymnasium № 40, lyceum № 2 became listeners of lectures. Also, 20 remote sites from the Altai Territory, the Suzunsky district of the Novosibirsk region, the Guryevsky district of the Kemerovo region take an active part in the project in real time. More than three hundred people attended the first lecture of the course.

Systematic study of local lore courses of the network project "Comprehend Altai" helps to form a holistic view of the history of their small homeland, to see deeper aspects of the development of the region, to get familiar with the scientific approach to the organization of knowledge organization.

The Presidential portal features electronic collection "Altai Territory: pages of history". The selection includes studies, essays, surveys and reports reflecting various aspects (geographic, socioeconomic, socio-political and other) of the history of the Altai Territory during the late XIX - first third of the XX century.
