The Regional Center of the Presidential Library was opened in Chelyabinsk region

Today, February 20, 2018, the opening of the regional center of the Presidential Library in the Chelyabinsk region was held. It is located in the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library. Interaction between libraries began about five years ago, an agreement on cooperation between the government of the Chelyabinsk region and the Presidential Library was signed in December 2017.

The opening ceremony of the regional center of the Presidential Library was attended by officials of the Chelyabinsk region: Deputy Governor of Chelyabinsk region Vadim Yevdokimov, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Chelyabinsk region Grigory Zukerman, Deputy Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of the Chelyabinsk region Vasily Kokoryukin, Human Rights Commissioner in the Chelyabinsk region Margarita Pavlova, chairman of the State Committee for Archives of the Chelyabinsk region Sergei Ivanov, leading specialists of centralized library systems and institutes for improving the qualifications of educators, directors of general education institutions, pro-rectors of the leading universities of the city, representatives of public organizations, as well as colleagues from the Sverdlovsk and Kurgan regions.

Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin in a welcome video message to the participants and guests of the event noted that the most effective was the interaction in the exchange of information resources and joint implementation of educational projects. He stressed that special attention should be paid to the network role of the regional center - on the one hand, the task of integrating information resources remains urgent, and on the other hand it is important to support the development of the local information and library network, including the school one.

Today, the interregional scientific and practical conference "The Presidential Library in the Southern Urals. The reference point" where the director of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library Natalia Diskaya presented the project" The Presidential Library in the Southern Urals", was held. The guests of the event got familiar with the experience of the already operating remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library today is the country's largest information, innovation and cultural center, a nationwide repository of materials on the history of Russia. Its fund has more than 600 thousand items of storage, including materials on the history of the Chelyabinsk region, which can be viewed on the portal in the collection "Chelyabinsk region: pages of history". The selection includes digital copies of studies, essays, archival documents, statistical materials, photographs and sound recordings covering geographic, demographic, socioeconomic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the Chelyabinsk region, especially the first third of the XX century.
