Museums of Russia: "Vladivostok. Fortress Age" exhibition launched

A permanent exhibition "Vladivostok. Fortress Age" reveals the phenomenon of the Vladivostok Fortress, which played a significant role in ensuring the security of the eastern borders of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union.

It features soldiers' weapons of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, awards, documents, letters and photographs from the collections of the Vladimir K. Arseniev Museum of Far East History, as well as other Russian museums and archives. The exposition includes a grand model of the Muravyov-Amursky Peninsula and the Russian Island of 1914-1916 and several objects of the fortress infrastructure. It also comprises a video installation showing various elements of the former naval fortress of the Russian Empire.

The exposition is a visitor centre for the Vladivostok Fortress. Guests may explore the fortifications, learn about the fate of their creators and stages of the grandiose construction and comprehend the scale of the defensive network.
