On February 27, 2012, the conference "Sailors in the Patriotic War of 1812: the tradition of protecting the Fatherland" was held at the Presidential Library named after B. N. Yeltsin, organized by the Interregional Public Foundation "National Glory Center". Participants of the conference were representatives of the fleet, science, culture and education, public figures and teachers, Nakhimov, cadets, students and schoolchildren. The reports were delivered by the head of the Center for the Study of Civilizations of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician V. V.
