"Spring is red" is a theatrical procession containing a grand program of coronation celebrations on Khodynka field. Actions and performances unfolded in theaters - two pantomimes, and two dramatic ones. The layout of the field itself was a variation of the generally accepted schemes in urban parks. In the center a circle is erected - an open stage for showing the main show - the allegorical folk procession "Spring - Red". To her adjoined a semicircle of the second square, framed by four open theaters. Four more semicircles of squares formed by swings, roundabouts, open-air stage for songwriters, the chorus of the choir, "Snowdrop" choir, jugglers, jokers, orchestras, parsley crocs, etc., followed him, gradually expanding. The lines of small structures were closed with two arc-shaped casings of booths for distribution of provisions. The drawings include up to 10 separate episodes of the procession: the herald, announcing the return of spring; the heroes of the Russian land; sword-kladenets, the eradicator of evil; hops with hops, impersonation of fun and removal; buffoons; a bear, a goat and a crane; frogs, etc. The true masterpiece of graphic book art can be considered the cover for the edition "Spring Red", which has stood three editions. In addition to illustrations by Shekhtel, the publication contains a poem by L. Leonidov-Gulyaev "Spring is Red" .
