Varlaam Khutynskyi - the founder and hegumen of the Savior-Transfiguration Khutyn monastery According to the popular tradition, Varlaam with the help of prayer drove out evil spirits from this area. In 1192 Varlaam founded a monastery and laid the stone church of the Transfiguration of the Savior. On the icon presented in the album, Varlaam Khutynsky is depicted in a turn of three quarters , which speaks of its belonging to the Deesis tier of the iconostasis of the Church of the Assumption in the Colm Monastery.
