Monument in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanovs' house. In Kostroma, it was conceived as a 36 m high structure with 26 sculptures historical figures and bas-reliefs around the pedestal. The project of the monument was approved in 1912, at the same time works were begun on individual figures and the construction of the pedestal. The architect of the project was Sergey Vlasayev (1881-1936). The laying of the monument took place on May 20, 1913, during the solemn celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanovs' house in Kostroma, in the presence of Nicholas II and his family, in a solemn atmosphere at the parade of local troops and timed to the 760th anniversary of the founding of the city. After the February Revolution, the erection of the monument was stopped. After the First of May 1918, the executive committee created a commission "to reorganize the monument to the 300th anniversary of the Romanovs' house at the Freedom Monument." After the death of Lenin in January 1924, the pedestal was decided to use to install the monument to the leader .
