On the night of September 11 to September 12, 1927, one of the strongest earthquakes occurred in the history of the Crimea. Nearly the whole Crimea suffered from this earthquake, it felt outside the peninsula. The Red Cross Society of the RSFSR issued a series of postcards, the entire collection from the sale of which applied for the restoration of the Crimea. The most mass publication was the release of the Crimean CEC Commission, consisting of at least thirty-one postcards. Under the pretext of helping the victims of the earthquake, a group of fraudsters (Poznansky, Kisilstein, Fish) in a private printing house in Vershitsky in Moscow order cards with views of the Crimean earthquake in large numbers and actively distribute them, demanding funds "to help the Crimea." The criminal activity of the adventurers was stopped by the OGPU. This adventure explains the presence of topographical errors in the explanatory inscriptions on the reverse side of postcards. - Materials of the Internet project "Old Yalta.
