The village of Osinovets became known during the siege of Leningrad. Here the land road ended and the water or ice road began. Already three days after the blockade began, ships with grain stocks and other cargoes came to Osinovetskaya Bay. First the cargo was transported ashore on boats and rafts. Later in Osinovets and the adjacent bay Morye arranged berths and brought to them railway branches. The harbor was equipped with a port for receiving cargo and exporting unique industrial equipment, from here people were transported, the Osnoveckaya naval base of the Baltic Fleet .
