In 1962, when building a new residential quarter in the Kirov district of Leningrad, one of the new streets was named after the seventeen-year-old partisan Zina Portnova, who was killed in the fight against the German invaders during the Great Patriotic War. In 1972, a memorable bas-relief from bronze was erected at the house No. 60 along Zina Portnova Street, where a pioneer girl with braids and a tie is depicted. The authors are sculptors AG Deme and LV Kalinin. According to the project of the architect VA Petrov, a granite board with the inscription: "The street was named after the young guerrilla hero of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Zina Portnova." 1926-1944. " During the Great Patriotic War, the Leningrad schoolgirl Zina found herself in the temporarily occupied territory in the village of Zui, now within the town of Obol in the Shumilinsky district of the Vitebsk region. In 1942, she became a member of the underground Young Communist Youth League "Young Avengers", in August 1943, Zina Portnova - scout of the partisan detachment. KE Voroshilov. On the instructions of the partisan detachment, Zina worked in the German officer's canteen: pouring poison into the food poisoned several dozen officers. On the denunciation of the traitors on December 17, 1943, a brave girl was arrested. She experienced terrible torture, but she did not betray any of the partisans.
