August 20, 2012 the Presidential Library the library was visited by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of IFLA Gazeta, US Content Conversion Advisor Frederick Zarndt, Key Account Manager for the German CCS Company Kharmut Jansikovsky and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Latvian National News Agency Martin Barkan. The guests were given a tour of the Presidential Library building. The staff of the electronic reading room demonstrated the capabilities of users when working with publications, told about the composition of the library's funds. In the second part of the visit, foreign specialists and representatives of the Presidential Library discussed topical issues of digitization and preservation of periodicals. Important topics of discussion for the meeting participants were the quality of scanning, the features of creating metadata and their placement in scanned materials
