From May 19 to May 21, 2011, the First St. Petersburg International Legal Forum was held at the Mikhailovsky (Engineers') Castle, organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum with the support of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of St. Petersburg, as well as participation of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation. The President of the Russian Federation DA Medvedev took part in the plenary session. Round tables that continued the work of the forum were devoted to the evolution of law in the global world from the point of view of developing the legal services market, creating worthy protection for business and countering corruption. Moderators of the round table "The Law in the Global World: the Rule of Law and the Update of Traditional Principles and Principles" were delivered by the Director General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, Doctor of Law, Professor AP Vershinin and Professor at the University of Kiel, Germany. Mechanisms for implementing and ensuring the rule of law in different countries were discussed, the need for seeking common standards in international relations was emphasized, and the role of the judicial system and legal culture in the state was emphasized on a number of occasions. More than 700 lawyers from 35 countries of the world took part in the forum. |
