Troitskaya Gate Church - the oldest surviving on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, is located above the central entrance to the monastery and was built, according to some scholars, in 1108. Over the following centuries, the external appearance of the monument gradually changed. In the XVIII century. a new pear-shaped gilded dome was made, external facades were decorated with stucco plant ornamentation, and on the north side a stone entrance to the church was added. In the interior - carved wooden gilded iconostasis of the XVIII century. works of Ukrainian masters. The walls are covered with oil painting, which amazes with the monumentality of forms and bright, cheerful color. In the beginning. XX century. the painting of the exterior and the walls flanking the entrance are made in a purely canonical spirit by a group of icon painters led by V. Sonin. The Great Lavra Belltower was built in 1731-1745. under the project of the architect I.-G. The Shedule. It is an octagonal four-tiered tower with a gilded dome 96.5 m high.
