The building of the Kiev University of St. Vladimir, founded in 1834 (now - Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University) is one of the best examples of late classical architecture in Kiev. Built in the years 1837-1842. under the project of professor of architecture of the Petersburg Academy of Arts, architect V. Beretti. A monumental building with central porticos and 8 Ionic columns became one of the most important architectural dominants of the city. In the 1850-1860's. it has acquired its current color - dark red. |
