The building of the Cadet Corps was specially built on the Cadet Highway (now Vozduhoflotsky Avenue) for this educational institution in 1857, designed by the architect I. Shtrom in the style of classicism. It was one of the best educational institutions not only in Kiev, but also in the country that ceased to exist during the Civil War (1918). In the years 1919-1941. in the building housed the Fifth (then - Kiev) infantry school. After the war, the headquarters of the Kiev Military District. Today it houses the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
