The monument (sculptor - M. Chizhov, pedestal - architect - V. Nikolaev) was installed in the university park. In Kiev, the name of this king was traditionally associated with the opening of the University and the Institute of Noble Maidens. The monument was inaugurated in August 1896 during the stay in Kiev of Nicholas II. Demolished after the establishment of Soviet power.
