The photograph shows a monument to the poet-north-maritime Yaroslav Rodionov, located in front of the Polyarny Museum of History and Local History (ul. Moiseeva, 3). The monument is a symbolic image of the scroll with poems of Y. Rodionov and his portrait. The scroll is set on an elegant low pedestal, at the base of which there are flower gardens. Yaroslav Rodionov is a poet, playwright, member of the Writers' Union of the USSR. In early 1941 he wrote the words for "The Song of an Old Cabman", which became known in the performance of Leonid Utyosov. Since November 1941 - an employee of the newspaper of the Northern Fleet Krasnoflotets in Polar, he also worked in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Northern Fleet, wrote ditties for him. I flew across the front line, went to sea on warships. In May 1943, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. He died in 1943 in a train, not far from the city of Kandalaksha, with a raid by German aviation. The seamen-Severomorsk, carrying out the will of the deceased comrade, buried him with military honors in the town of Polyarny. The monument was opened on June 1, 2003.
