Information technology and Russian regions: Mobile audio guide through places of worship in Derbent

The presentation of mobile audio guide of the iconic places and attractions of Derbent and the Derbent district took place on 22 April 2016 at the Ethnic Culture Center in Makhachkala. Audio guide is developed by employees of the Museum of the history of world cultures and religions of the city of Derbent in the framework of the event of the exhibition project "Open churches. House of God. Places of Power".  

"Attractions of Derbent became part of a free mobile application dedicated to art, culture and travel around the world. The project created 9 foot and one bus tour to the massive religious buildings of the ancient city and beyond. The city is submitted with an application izi.TRAVEL with 10 audio tours. During the route the mobile guide will acquaint with the history of the top attractions and central parts of the city, as well as with the cultural and historical monuments that are located outside the city walls", - said the museum's director Diana Hasanova.

The museum of the history of world cultures and religions took part in the jubilee events dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Derbent. It was launched as part of the city's anniversary.

The implementation of a unique project "Open churches. House of God. Places of Power" which has received great popularity among both locals and tourists alike, started in the framework of the jubilee events dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Derbent.

"The project allows you to get acquainted with the places of worship and other important cultural and historical objects located on the territory of Derbent and the Derbent region. They are 10 religious temples - Jewish, Muslim, Orthodox, many of which are peers of the city. We decided to open all these temples to the viewer through a photo exhibition. There was made photographing of the interior, the decoration of each of these institutions, it has been collected their brief history, and it was all laid out in a single exposure at the time of the anniversary", - said curator of the project Jamila Dagirova.
