Yakov Abramov's book "Marriage and Family" (1900) provides a detailed description of the rules of marriage that our ancestors followed. One of the most important aspects that has survived until today is the mutual consent of the bride and groom. According to the author of the book, "marriage cannot legally take place without mutual and spontaneous consent". This information was provided by the press service of the Presidential Library, and is available on portal, where one can also access the collection of documents and materials titled "Family and Traditional Family Values in Russia as the Foundation of Russian Statehood", which includes Abramov's work.
