Yakov Abramov's book "Marriage and Family" (1900) provides a detailed description of the rules of marriage that our ancestors followed. One of the most important aspects that has survived until today is the mutual consent of the bride and groom. According to the author of the book, "marriage cannot legally take place without mutual and spontaneous consent".
