March 25 (April 6) 1812, in the family of the landowner I. Yakovlev and a German Henrietta Wilhelmina Luisa Haag was born Alexander Herzen, future Russian author, philosopher, writer of political essays, revolutionary; one of the founders of the Free Russian Press (1853). His parents' marriage was not officially registered, so Yakovlev imagined for his son the name "Herzen" from German Herz - «the heart."

6 (18) July 1812 in Orebro (Sweden), Russia and Great Britain signed a peace treaty, which restored diplomatic relations between the two countries, which were interrupted by the Anglo-Russian War (1807-1812). The treaty had a great political significance.

Museums of Russia: The Bakhrushin Museum launches an exhibition project ahead of its 125th birthday

On August 6, 2019 the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum in Moscow is mounting an exhibition project timed to coincide with its 125th birthday. Ahead of the anniversary the museum is launching the important project “125 Masterpieces of the Bakhrushin Museum”. October 29, 1894 is considered to be the date of founding of the Bakhrushin Museum. On that day the young merchant Alexei Bakhrushin presented his theatrical collection to the public for the first time.

On August 6, 2019 the Battle of Stalingrad Museum-Reserve is presenting the exhibition “A Year Before the Great Victory. Sevastopol-1944”. It is co-organized by the Sevastopol Military and Historical Museum-Reserve with the support of the Volgograd regional branch of the Russian Military and Historical Society. It is devoted to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Crimea from the Nazi invaders by the Soviet troops.

In 2019 two significant dates are associated with the name of the prominent Russian scientist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev: the Periodic table created by him celebrates its 150th anniversary, and on February 8, it marks 185 years since its birth. Traditionally, on the first Sunday of August, Russia celebrates the Day of the Railway Worker - a professional holiday when employees of the railway industry are honored. Yakov Petrovich Polonsky was born on December 6 (18), 1819, in Ryazan. The poet's father, Pyotr Grigorievich Polonsky, was a clerk in the office of Ryazan Governor-General A. D. Balashov. In 1819, he married Natalya Yakovlevna Kaftyreva, a descendant of an ancient noble family. Yakov Petrovich Polonsky was the eldest child in the family.

July 6, 2021, marks the 225th anniversary of Nicholas I. Making this anniversary, the Presidential Library's portal releases an updated and significantly improved collection of materials devoted to the Emperor. It comprises rare and ancient editions, as well as modern research, biographical essays and memoirs of contemporaries, Emperor's private correspondence and memoirs. They promote a new view on the personality of Emperor Nicholas.
