Memory of Russia: Exhibition "Letters from the Front" is presented in Saratov

Until May 31, 2018, the Saratov Regional Museum of Local History opened an exhibition entitled "Letters from the Front" dedicated to the Victory Day. It presents the letters of Vasily Petrovich Savin, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, an artillery officer, later a staff worker, written by him in the period from June 1941 to February 1946. The addressee was Zoya Grigoryevna Katz, who lived during the war in Saratov. The letters were handed over to the museum for permanent storage by her son – V. I. Katz, an associate professor of the Saratov State University, who in turn received them from O. V. Plotnikova, the youngest daughter of V. P. Savin. Being a professional historian, Vladimir Ivanovich accompanied the letters with his decoding, an introductory article, a biography of V. P. Savin and copies of archival documents.

Internet and Culture: Over 250 historical photographs of the VDNH released on Moscow Electronic School’s portal to mark the 80th anniversary of the exhibition

The electronic book entitled From VSHV to VDNH, which was released by the Main Archive Directorate of Moscow to mark the 80th anniversary of the exhibition, is now available to users of the Moscow Electronic School’s library. It contains over 250 photographs from Moscow archival collections, which illustrate the development stages of the exhibition complex.

August 16, 2019 marks the 143th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Bilibin (1876–1942), artist, past master of the national form in art, who opened the world of Russian fairy tales to several generations of children. In theater, he designed the famous ballet The Firebird in Paris to the music of Stravinsky. He created sketches of costumes and sets for the operas by A. P. Borodin “Prince Igor” and N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan. He vividly asserted himself on the stages of Egypt, France, Czechoslovakia. But his highest achievements belong to book graphics.

Memory of Russia: The military-historical festival "Kulikovo Field" will be held in Tula Region

The military historical festival "Kulikovo Field" will be held on September 19-21, 2019, at the Kulikovo Field with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Military Historical Society and the Government of Tula Region. The holiday is dedicated to the battle of the troops of Dmitry Donskoy and Mamai, which took place on September 8, 1380.
