Russian archaeologist, collector, philanthropist, corresponding member (1856), Honorary member (1857) of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, head of the Department of Russian and Slavic Archaeology Alexei Sergeyevich Uvarov (1824-1885), the only son of Count S. S. Uvarov. In 1857, he established the foundation in memory of his father and the Uvarov Prize at the Academy of Sciences for historical writings. Chairman of the Scientific Commission for the establishment of the Imperial Historical Museum in Moscow, the first director of the museum. In 1864, he founded the Moscow Archaeological Society and headed it until his death in 1884, funded the first congresses of archaeologists. In the family estate of Porechye (near the village of Uvarovka), he kept and replenished a large museum and library collection founded by his father. In 1917, the Uvarov collection was nationalized and distributed among museums and libraries (the State Historical Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Public Historical Library, etc.)

Praskovya Sergeevna Uvarova, nee Princess Shcherbatova (1840-1924) was a Russian scientist, historian and archaeologist, a court stateswoman (since 1912). Daughter of Prince S. A. Shcherbatov, wife of A. S. Uvarov, son of S. S. Uvarov. Together with her husband, she participated in archaeological congresses, in the foundation of the Historical Museum in Moscow named after Emperor Alexander III. After her husband's death, she was elected chairman of the Moscow Archaeological Society founded by him. She headed the Commission for the Preservation of Ancient Monuments, conducted independent archaeological excavations, and made nine trips to the Caucasus. In 1886-1910, she surveyed the Black Sea coast and the mountainous regions of Abkhazia and Adjara, conducted excavations in the vicinity of Grozny and North Ossetia, and continued to study the Kobani burial ground. Author of more than 170 scientific papers. Participated in the development of legislation on the protection of cultural heritage. Honorary Member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences (1895), professor at the Universities of Dorpat, Kharkov, Kazan, Moscow and the St. Petersburg Archaeological Institute. In 1906, she established a special prize named after Count A. S. Uvarov.
