Volga Cossack Host
The Volga Cossack Host was formed in 1734 by the decree of Empress Anna Ioannovna from the Don Cossacks in order to strengthen the Tsaritsyn Guard Line. It was located on the middle and lower Volga. In the 1770s, it was relocated to the Terek River. In 1832, the Mozdok and Volga regiments became part of the Caucasus Line Host, in 1860 – the Terek. The Cossacks who remained on the Volga at the beginning of the 19th century became part of the Astrakhan Cossack Host
