Caucasus Line Cossack Host

The Caucasus Line Cossack Host was formed in 1832 as part of the Kizlyar, Terek-Family, Greben, Mozdok and Mountain Cossack regiments, as well as 5 Cossack regiments of the Azov-Mozdok line (Volga, Caucasus, Kuban, Stavropol and Khopyor). Together with the Black Sea Cossack Host, it guarded the Caucasian fortified lines from the raids of the highlanders. In 1860, the Terek Cossack Host was formed from a part of the Caucasus Line Cossack Host. The rest, together with the Black Sea Cossack Host, formed the basis of the Kuban Cossack Host
