Civil Architecture

Shopping and warehouse center of the late 18th - early 19th centuries. Its construction began in 1789 with Premium shops, which sold the "premium-class" products (fabric, leather, fur, books). Then there were built Big Flour, Chalk, Gingerbread, Bread, Kvass, Living Fish, Fish, Meat, Harness, Greenery, Oil, Vegetable (Tobacco) and Tar shops. Most of the constructions have survived to the present day almost unchanged.

It was built in 1824-1827 by the architect P. I. Fursov. Currently, the building belongs to the Kostroma State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.

It was built in 1909-1913 by the architect N. I. Gorlitsyn. It was unveiled during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty by the Emperor Nicholas II. After the October Revolution of 1917, the museum housed the Kostroma Scientific Society for the study of local region. In 1945, the building was alloted for the art gallery. At the present time it is a branch of the Kostroma State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.

Zemsky agricultural, industrial and handicraft exhibition timed to the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. Architect – L. R. Sologub. It was dismantled in the autumn of 1913.

It was built at the turn of the 18th – 19th cc., rebuilt several times in the mid 19th century. It belonged to Kolodkin merchants who used the building as a hotel. After 1917, there was a Peasant House. The building is currently owned by the City Administration.

Its history dates back to November 1918, when the worker-peasant university opened. It was repeatedly he transformed. Since 1999 the university has the current name.
