Study of the territory of Russia

The new edition of the collection of textbooks on geography includes 164 units. The material is divided into three general sections: textbooks issued before 1917, textbooks issued after 1917, and the methods of teaching geography. Inside the sections textbooks are grouped by different levels of education (for primary, secondary, higher school) and territorial coverage (general geography, geography of Russia, homeland studies); inside the sub-sections textbooks are arranged alphabetically. The materials enable us to trace the process of formation and development of geography as a school subject in the system of Russian education, from the publication of the first Russian author’s textbook in 1776 to particular works issued after the October Revolution of the last century.
