Civil architecture

A building in the neo-Russian style was erected in 1905 at the instance of Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva. The Museum of Russian Antiquities was opened for public in 1909. After the revolution and until recently, the building housed the Art Gallery. Currently, a concept and a structure of exposition of the reviving Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Russian Antiquities of Princess M. K. Tenisheva are fully developed.

Located in the former Tenishevs’ country estate Talashkino, where at the turn of the XX century a patroness of art, a collector and an artist Princess Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva created a sort of artistic colony. Today, all remaining former constructions of Tenishevs’ estate are the part of the Teremok Historical and Architectural Complex of the Smolensk State National Park and Museum. Among them is a picture book Teremok tower chamber, designed by S. V. Malyutin, and the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.

The museum opened in 1973 in a historic building of the late XIX century with a rich stucco molding in the Rococo style over the facade. Now the museum's collection includes more than 90 unique works of the sculptor.

Constructed in the 1931 - 1932 years building was badly damaged during World War II. It was restored during the 1947 - 1952 years upon a new project in the neoclassical style. Today the building is home to the Administration of Smolensk Oblast.

Erected in the period of 1825 - 1831 years building is a monument of Classicism and one of the most outstanding examples of provincial noble assemblies. After the revolution it quartered the House of Soviets, later housed the State Medical Institute, and finally at the end of the 1980s accommodated the Concert Theater of the Regional Philharmonic Hall named after V. I. Glinka.

The building was constructed in 1886. At various times, various administrative institutions, banks, offices, a public library, a museum, and a fire station found room here. Currently this is a residential apartment building. The building survived to the present day in far remodeled look.

Built in 1877 - 1979 years upon the project of M. F. Meysher and O. F. Harten. At the end of the XX century a building was partially reassembled under the leadership of engineer E. F. Lyschynsky. During the Great Patriotic War has suffered a great damage and was restored in 1947 upon the project of an architect D. P. Kovalenko. Currently, the building accommodates the premises of Art Gallery.

A seminary building was constructed in 1888 - 1891 years. After a termination of the seminary in 1918, the building accommodated various military agencies.

Built in 1901. Today, the building is house for the Smolensk State University.

Traces its history back to the XVIII century. Current theater building was erected in 1939 according to the project of S. A. Ilyinsky. During the war bombing damaged the building, and in 1947 - 1949 years its restoration was carried out under the guidance of S. A. Ilyinsky.

Recreational center and health resort was built in 1962 within 5 miles from the city of Smolensk.
