April 5 marks the birthday of the Summer Garden. 320 years ago, on this day, 1704, Peter I gave orders to the head of the Discharge Order, Tikhon Streshnev. And since the garden was also conceived as a “royal vegetable garden”, vegetables and herbs were also grown here.

The Presidential Library and St. Petersburg State Economic University continue their joint educational project. As part of this project, on April 3, the Presidential Library hosted a multimedia lesson entitled “Kotlin Island: from the glacial moraine to new heights of hospitality in St. Petersburg” which continued the series “The Origins of St. Petersburg Hospitality: Events, People, Places”. It involved senior pupils from St. Petersburg schools.
The presidential libraries of Russia and Belarus expand cooperation
On April 2, 2024, the Presidential Library, subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, and the Presidential Library of Republic of Belarus entered into a cooperation agreement and also opened a remote access center to the resources of the Presidential Library. The document was signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Director of the Presidential Library of Republic of Belarus Sergei Kvachan. The event is dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

April 1, 2024 marks the 215th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol. He lived for almost 43 years, seven of them in St. Petersburg. And it was during these years that he “managed to write almost all of his works and gain fame as a first-class writer”.
