The Presidential Library's video lecture to portray Fyodor Tyutchev

20 December 2023

On December 20, 2023 at 11:00 Moscow time the Presidential Library will host a lecture “The Faces of Thoughts in the Poetry of Fyodor Tyutchev” as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia.

Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Philosophy at the Institute of Media and Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor of the Department of International Relations, Political Science and Regional Studies at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications of South Ural State University Ekaterina Grigorievna Prilukova will join the video lecture.

Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev (1803–1873) - famous Russian poet, diplomat, philosopher, publicist, corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. His legacy is great, but there is little research on his life and career.

In his works he reveals the paradoxical nature of human life, the unique and amazing secrets of the Russian soul. The soul of Fyodor Tyutchev himself was on the verge of “a kind of double existence!” When expressing his thoughts, Tyutchev used his native language most of all, although he often spoke and corresponded in French. His every thought flared up under the influence of deep feelings about the life of the eternal world and the mysterious depths of the human soul: what is a whole life for a person, is a minute for the world. Nevertheless, man is an integral part and spiritual dominant of existence. He is the one who, overcoming time, strives into the future.

Whatever the poet writes about - about the universe, the fatherland, nature, life, death, about his beloved woman - the main idea of his oeuvre is all-responsiveness and all-humanity and contact with the secrets of existence.

The video lecture “The Faces of Thoughts in the Poetry of Fyodor Tyutchev” is free. The meeting will be broadcast on the Presidential ‘s portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, as well as on the institution’s Rutube-channel, on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
