The Presidential Library invites to an exhibition of paintings dedicated to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin

29 January – 22 February 2024

From January 29 to February 22, 2024, a traveling art exhibition “And in the New Century, Pushkin is with Us” is open at the Presidential Library. The exhibition is dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the great Russian poet, which will be celebrated this year.

The exhibition was organized by the Association of Artists of St. Petersburg “Temple of Friendship”. The goal of the project is to attract the attention of contemporaries to the oevre of Alexander Pushkin.

In 2023, the Association held a series of plein airs around Pushkin’s places especially for this exhibition. Ten artists, members of the Union of Artists of Russia and the Creative Union of Russia, visited the Pushkin Mountains, Tsarskoe Selo, St. Petersburg and Gurzuf. As a result, more than 40 works were created, which reflect the beauty and grandeur of places associated with the life and work of the Russian classic. The gallery of Pushkin portraits has been replenished with new images.

A large number of visual materials dedicated to the world-famous writer can be found in the electronic collection Alexander Pushkin (1799–1837), which is available on the Presidential Library's portal. These are not only portraits of Alexander Sergeevich and people in his circle, but also illustrations for the works of the poet and prose writer.
