The Presidential Library hosts video lecture about daily life during the Great Patriotic War and the siege

On May 8, 2024 at 10:30 Moscow time the Presidential Library will host a lecture about everyday life during the Great Patriotic War and the siege as part of the video lecture "Knowledge of Russia". Lecturers are: Kirill Boldovsky, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the laboratory "History of the Siege of Leningrad", Senior Researcher at the Department of Modern Russian History of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Alexey Bogomolov, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Researcher at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcasted on the Presidential Library’s portal in Live Broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events, on the Rutube-channel of the institution, as well as on the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. Since 2010, a major electronic collection Memory of the Great Victory has been formed on the institution's portal. It includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, evidence of participants in combat battles and home front workers: video recordings of interviews, diaries and personal documents, images of military and labor awards, monuments and memorial complexes..

The Collection of digitized archival documents, film and photo materials World War II in archival documents is presented on the Library's portal. The Collection's content is carried out by the Federal Archives and federal state archives with the participation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, the state archives of Belarus.

To date the Collection includes more than 12 thousand archive documents, including maps, diagrams, periodicals, photographs, newsreels for the period from January 1933 to December 1944.
