II International Arctic Legal Forum to take place at the Presidential Library

November 13-14, 2014, the Presidential Library will host II International Arctic Legal Forum "Maintenance and Sustainable Development of the Arctic: legal aspects."

The event has been organized by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District in conjunction with the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation.

The forum will include a plenary meeting, "The Arctic protected by law" and thematic sections devoted to the sustainable development of the Russian Arctic in the modern legal context, including the field of international law; organization of videoconferences with discussion platforms of the regions of the Russian Arctic.

Participants of the conference will focus on the monitoring of the legal development of the Arctic zone of our country, general problems of improving the legislation on public-private partnership, investment legislation, legislation on mineral resources, energy and transport, as well as legislation in the field of agricultural development. The forum will result in the discussion and adoption of the final resolution.

It is not accidental that the event will take place in the Presidential Library. It has already hosted the first Arctic Forum, which raised issues of development of the territory. The first electronic national library of Russia, and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District have been fruitfully cooperating for years, which resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement in October 2013.

The Presidential Library has repeatedly organized and been the venue of large-scale events - workshops, conferences related to the themes of the library’s collections, business meetings and international summits, state award ceremonies, concerts. It has hosted such major events as the scientific-practical conference timed to the 150th anniversary of the judicial reform, the International Conference "Nuclear Energy in the 21st century," International Conference of High-level ASEM on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, "Harmony among civilizations as a necessary condition for sustainable development" and other event. In late October, the Presidential Library was platform of the XII Media Forum of the Northwest of Russia. The Presidential Library hosted the event for the second time.
