The first International Festival “Saxophone” in the Presidential Library

December 6, 2014 at 19.00 the Presidential Library will host a concert of Italian saxophone orchestra conducted by a famed saxophonist Federico Mondelci. The event will be held within the First International Festival "Saxophone" in commemoration of the 200th birthday anniversary of the Belgian inventor of that musical instrument, Adolphe Sax. The organizers of the concert are: "Palaces of St. Petersburg" Foundation and Mariya Safariants.

Thirteen Italian saxophone virtuoso conducted by Maestro Federico Mondelci will perform the best and most famous saxophone hits of all time - jazz, folk, rock, classical. Federico Mondelci is one of the leading contemporary saxophonists. He has repeatedly represented Italy at the World Saxophone festivals in Germany, Spain, Japan, USA. Currently, he tours in Europe and America performing his own arrangements of Piazzolla tangos with great success. Since 1990 he is also a conductor. Mondelci is an active devotee of performing contemporary music and innovator in the field of instrumental technique.

Italian Saxophone Orchestra was established in 1985. The team includes young Italian saxophonists performing classical music, avant-garde and jazz. Copper prowess of thirteen saxophones won’t leave the audience indifferent. A special place in the repertoire is occupied by the works of contemporary composers, the interpretation of which has deserved particular recognition of the public and critics.

The Presidential Library has repeatedly become the venue for musical evenings. Technical facilities and acoustic characteristics of the hall located within the walls of the former Synod have already been appreciated by European, American and Russian singers, bandsmen and musical performers.
