International organizations: The Chekhov Institute to promote the Russian culture abroad

At the A. A. Bakhrushin State central theatre Museum is formed the new division – the Chekhov Institute. One of the main tasks of the new institution is the systemic and comprehensive promotion of Russian culture through branches of the Chekhov Institute in Russia and abroad, especially in the creative legacy of the great classic of Russian and world literature, Anton Chekhov, and his nephew, Michael Chekhov.

Branches may be established on the basis of any government and community organizations in each country. Financing activities of the branches will be provided by institutions and organizations, on the basis of which they were created, as well as attraction of funds from the state budget or regions and sponsor contributions. The participation of the main (Russian) Chekhov institute in the activities of these branches is organizational and creative, counseling and methodical.

The scientific and educational activities of the Chekhov institute include the establishing of contacts with similar organizations and institutions in Russia and abroad, and joint events.

Publishing, in particular, will include the regular edition of the anthology "Chekhov's notebooks" and a collection of Chekhov's scientific symposia and conferences, publication of works of authors-amateurs, and practitioners of the Chekhov Theatre in Russian, their translation from Russian into foreign languages. The Chekhov Institute will participate in the specialized Chekhov International Theater Festival, demonstrations of some of Chekhov's plays and student theatrical works. As well as organize and conduct creative workshops, master classes and other events in conjunction with the theater "International Chekhov laboratory" (Moscow).

According to the artistic Director of the Chekhov Institute and Theatre "International Chekhov laboratory" Victor Gulchenko, it is supposed to support and supplement the new documentary, bibliographic, information materials the web site "The whole Chekhov", and there are plans to release an electronic "International Journal of Chekhov".
