Internet resources: Encyclopedic collections of the XV century of the Monk of the Cyril-Belozersky Monastery Euphrosyne are available online

Thanks to modern technology today each of us can see unique documents – five encyclopedic collections of the XV century of the Cyril-Belozersky Monastery Euphorosyne which are available in the internet. 

Specialists of the National Library of Russia where at the moment are stored manuscripts, implemented a very interesting project. The Internet-resource “Encyclopedia collections of the XV century of copyist Euphrosyne – “Leonardo da Vinci of Ancient Rus’” – this is a result of a huge work. On June 19 the project was presented in the Cyril-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.

Before the specialists performed members of the National Library of Russia M. A. Shibaev and E. V. Krushelnitskaya. They talked about how the work was carried out and the possibilities that their resource obtain. One of its advantages is the ease and simplicity for finding materials. But the more important point - it is the very content of the website. The reader at any level - from beginner to professional - will find the most detailed information about the collection, as if holding it in hands. The website contains not only sheets of manuscript books, but even filigree (watermarks) of ancient pages obtained by using ultraviolet photography.  

Euphrosyne collections are a distinctive and largely enigmatic phenomenon of Russian culture. Today they surprise with breadth and diversity of subjects collected their works, techniques of editing compiler, content texts, many of which are unique and come to us only through Cyril copyist Euphrosyne. Besides church works his collections include secular works, such as "The Legend of Dracula governor".
