The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: International Scientific Conference “Voltaire readings” in Saint-Petersburg

November 5-6, 2015 in the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg) in the framework of the Year of Russian literature is held the International scientific conference "Voltaire readings". The conference theme - "Voltaire, Russian literature and society" - will allow its participants to discuss issues related to the literary works of Voltaire, spread his works in Russia, the influence of his ideas and creativity on Russian literature and society from the XVIII to the XXI century.

The conference is attended by researchers from Russia, France and Switzerland.

For the first time in Russia, in the New building of the National Library of Russia will be staged «Voltaire aux Délices» staged by the Museum of Voltaire in Geneva, directed by Francois Jacob. The participants and guests of the conference will be presented an exhibition "All genres are good except the boring. Theatre of Voltaire". The exposition tells about the history of home theater and works of Voltaire's statement on the Russian stage.

The "Voltaire's library" will host a book exhibition "Russian names in the Library of Voltaire". Also in the main building of the NLR the audience will be presented the play, devoted to Voltaire, staged by theater-studio of the St. Petersburg State University, which the actors specially prepared for the conference.
