Memory of Russia: The XI International Military History Festival "The Battle on the Ice" in the Pskov region

The XI International Military History Festival "The Battle on the Ice", dedicated to the 775th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky's victory in the battle of Lake Peipsi, takes place in the village of Samolva, the Gdov District, Pskov region on April 21-22, 2017.

The main events of the festival are held on April 22. On this day in the clearing near Samolva will be held the reconstruction of the famous battle that took place on the ice of Lake Peipsi in 1242. Reconstructors will take part in spectacular maneuvers and equestrian tournament. In addition, the final of the tournament and the winners’ awarding will be held.  

The Holy Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky was a great statesman, famous warrior, commander, wise ruler and talented diplomat. The victory of his squad in the battle with the soldiers of the Livonian Order on Lake Peipsi went down in history as a symbol of the courage and greatness of the Russian people. The date of the historic battle - April 18 - is the Day of Russia's military glory.
