Conference “Power of Russia will be consolidated by Siberia and the Arctic Ocean” kicked off at the Presidential library
On September 3 2010 within the framework of the Day of Knowledge, dedicated to the territory of Russia, the conference “Power of Russia will be consolidated by Siberia and the Arctic Ocean” kicked off at the Presidential library.
The conference launched in St. Petersburg brought together students and lecturers of the Herzen State Pedagogical University and its institutes. Before the conference they had a tour around the Presidential library and visited the exhibition of book rarities dating back to 16th – 18th cc. called “Territory: Gems of Russia”.
A videoconference, organized with the support of “Rostelekom”, enabled students and lecturers from Vladivostok, Yakutsk and Krasnoyarsk to virtually participate in the event. A live webcast of the conference was available on the library’s website www.prlib.ru.
The event also attracted the Yakut folk song and dance group “Talban” and the “Northern lights” folk theatre of the Peoples of the North Institute who performed dancing, vocal, instrumental miniatures, elements of rituals and customs of folklore of native peoples of the North, Siberia and Far East – Chukchi, Eskimos, Koryaks, Itelmen, Yakuts, Evenks, Nivkhs, Nanais, Khanty, Mansi, Sami etc.
