Presidential Library and the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea sign Memorandum of Cooperation

On November 10 2010 in Seoul during the visit of the President of Russia to the Republic of Korea the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea signed Memorandum of Cooperation. The document will become the basis for expertise exchange, coordination and implementation of joint projects in the field of electronic information.

Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Director General of the Presidential Library A.P. Vershinin and the Chief Librarian of the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea Jae Il Yoo. Alexander Vershinin underscored that the Memorandum was targeted at meeting scientific, cultural, educational requirements in the light of booming growth of modern technologies and international information exchange.

The document was signed as a result of mutual interest, which arose during previous working meetings of representatives of the Presidential Library and the National Assembly Library. Both national libraries are actively introducing modern technologies in the area of storage and use of information.

On October 15 2009 the Presidential Library signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Library of Congress.

On November 8-10 2010 in Seoul was held a “Dialogue Russia – Republic of Korea” Forum, a result of an agreement which had been reached at a bilateral summit in 2008. “Dialogue Russia – Republic of Korea” Forum should become an annual forum, which would be by turns launched in Russia and Korea. It would enable representatives of both countries to share ideas and expertise in various spheres of public life.

The theme of the current dialogue is “Knowledge Society in 21st c.: New partnership of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea”. Presidential Library representatives participated in the work of sections “Culture and Art”, “Education and Science”, “Politics and International Relations”, “Youth Dialogue”.
