
Presidential Library held the Day of Older Persons
On September 27 2011 at the Presidential Library gathered the older generation of St. Petersburg residents who enjoyed the performances of actors and congratulations on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons.
Before the launch of the concert program guests were invited to join the tour to the Presidential Library’s halls where they were shown library’s historical interiors along with modern facilities. Guests took an interest in “Flow of Documents: Traditions and Innovations” exhibition staged in exhibition halls of the library.
With congratulation speeches to participants of celebrations addressed representatives of St. Petersburg City Administration and deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, representatives of the Presidential Library, and officials of Admiralty District.
The decision on establishment of the International Day of Older Persons was taken by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1990. In Russia the older generation has been congratulated since 1992. Today this holiday is observed in over 50 countries of the world.
