The Presidential Library signed a Co-Operation Agreement with the Novosibirsk Region

1 November 2011 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library signed a Co-Operation Agreement with the Government of the Novosibirsk Region. The document signed by Director General of the library A. P. Vershinin and the Governor of the region V. A. Yurchenko will mark a new stage in the development of relations between the Presidential Library and the region.

The signed agreement will allow solution of many urgent issues more efficiently including those related to coordination of work on integration of various informational resources from archives, libraries, museums, official documents.

The signing ceremony was timed to the presentation of the Electronic Reading Room with access to resources of the Presidential Library which started to operate on the basis of the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library. The opening of the reading room was attended by the Governor of the Novosibirsk region V. A. Yurchenko, the Minister of Culture of the region N. V. Yaroslavtseva. The Presidential Library was represented by the Director General Deputy for branches S. M. Makeev.

In the course of his visit to Novosibirsk S. M. Makeev also held a working meeting with the governor of the region, attended the Interregional Theoretical and Practical Conference “Electronic Siberia” hosted by the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library. He made a speech on “The initiative of the Presidential Library to create its branch network”.

The Presidential Library Director General Deputy visited the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences where he met with the institution director B. S. Yelepov.

Timed to the opening of a reading room in Novosibirsk, on the Presidential Library portal was published a collection “Novosibirsk Region: Pages of History”. It included books, periodicals, archival documents and visual materials revealing the history of the region in the period of 18^th – early 20^th centuries. The collection also includes the current Statute of the Novosibirsk Region.

The opening of the Electronic Reading Room with access to resources of the Presidential Library is the first stage of co-operation with the region in order to create a branch of the Presidential Library in the Novosibirsk Region. The branch is planned to be housed in a new building of the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library which is being designed.

In accordance with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation of June 18, 2007 N 326, branches of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library are to be created in all constituent territories of the Russian Federation.
