The Presidential Library signed a cooperation agreement with the Tambov Region

On the eve of the All-Russian Library Day, in Tambov, the Presidential Library Director General Deputy for branches, S. M. Makeev met with the governor of the Tambov Region, O. I. Betin. In the course of the visit they exchanged documents on cooperation between the Presidential Library and the regional administration.

The agreement, signed by the Director General of the Presidential Library, A. P. Vershinin and the Governor of the region, O. I. Betin is another step in the development of relations between the library and the region. The result of collaboration of the parties should be the creation of the Presidential Library’s branch in the Tambov Region.

The first step in implementing the agreement, as the document states, will be the opening of the regional centre for access to information resources of the Presidential Library on the basis of the Pushkin Regional Universal Scientific Library of Tambov. The center will allow residents of the region use information resources of the library on the history and practice of Russian statehood. Documents from the archives and museums of the Tambov Region will be included into the Presidential Library’s holdings and will be available to researchers from any point of the country or the world.

Representatives of the Presidential Library while staying in Tambov took part in the celebration of the All-Russian Library Day. The event, which took place May 25 in the Local History Museum, brought together heads and experts of libraries and museums of the region, representatives of institutions of science and culture.

The Presidential Library Director General Deputy, E. D. Zhabko, congratulated the audience through video conference from St. Petersburg. To date, she said, the holdings of the Presidential Library number about 166,000 items, and the number of partners contributing to their development is more than one hundred. E. D. Zhabko expressed hope for the successful participation of the Tambov Region in this national project on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood.

The site of the Presidential Library is already featuring the available material on the history of the Tambov Region. The collection "Tambov Region: pages of history" includes studies, statistics and archival documents of the late 18th - early 20th century. The selection also includes the current Charter of the Tambov Region.

Work on the preparation of a cooperation agreement with the Administration of the Tambov Region began in August 2011, when the Deputy Director for branches S. M. Makeev, on the invitation of the Head of Administration of the Tambov Region, came to the city of Tambov with a working visit.
