Particular examples of innovations in culture

The Presidential Library is a site for implementation of many projects, which were discussed at the Council for Culture and Arts, chaired by V. V. Putin, 25 September 2012.

Director General of the Presidential Library, A. P. Vershinin, a member of the Council for Culture and Arts, attended the regular meeting of the Council. In the Kremlin, there were discussed the issues of modern cultural policy and support of creative initiatives, preservation, use and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage. The meeting also discussed the prospects of humanist development and creative education of the younger generation, the improvement of the practice of international cultural cooperation.

One of the major goals of the Presidential Library is the formation of national repository for information resource in the form of electronic-digital copies of works on history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, Russian language. Subject area of the development of the holdings is intended to raise the level of political and legal culture, of patriotism, and of development of civil society, to strengthen the jural state. The Presidential Library in developing in regions of Russia and abroad, providing access points to its resources for Russian citizens, compatriots living abroad and foreign partners.

Education of compatriots, expansion of cultural presence abroad, creation of an objective image of Russia in the world is also the priority of the Presidential Library. Library’s electronic reading rooms have been opened in 19 regions of the Federation, and 7 regions now have regional centers, a branch of the library operates in Tyumen. On the basis of Rossotrudnichestvo are working 12 foreign centers of access to the information resources of the Presidential Library. Its holdings include about 190, 000 materials, almost 40% of which are documents. The premises of the Presidential Library bring together various departments that efficiently contribute to implementation of educational projects. This year, among these projects are: the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood, the 200th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812; events dedicated to the 400th anniversary of overcoming the Time of Troubles are at the stage of preparation.

The Presidential Library will continue to make innovations in the field of culture, high technology, and to develop as the largest modern information center.
