The Presidential Library to support historical investigations

The Presidential Library announced a new journalism award "Historical Investigations." Winners and nominees will be announced at the next, XI Northwest Media Forum.

The first national electronic library of Russia aims to increase interest in the objective information about Russian history and statehood, initiate contribution of both professional journalists and freelance reporters. It is possible that there will be individual nominations for bloggers, students and scientists who publish their researches.

The Presidential Library disposing of unique historical archival materials, books, films and photographs, audio recordings, is engaged in a comprehensive research, education and intends to present the results of its activities to the general public.

Participants of the X Northwest Media Forum, which is taking place 18-19 October, got an idea of the Presidential Library after visiting the electronic reading room and exhibition halls, as well as working in the multimedia sector. Round tables and discussions on various professional issues and social problems were held, the event attracted more than 300 attendees. An active part in the forum took Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the North-West Federal District, Nikolai Vinnichenko.

The first day completed with the awarding of the winners of the journalistic contest, "SeZaV 2012." This year the Presidential Library nominated "The Best Social Media project." The winner is "Komiinform" news agency and "The Day" TV program. The Komi Republic representatives presented the charity project "Children's Live." With the support of journalists, from April to October 2012 there has been raised over 4 million rubles for the treatment of sick children from Ukhta, Usinsk and mining settlements of the republic.
