State symbols of the new Russia in the Presidential Library’s holdings
The Presidential Library holds unique historical materials that reflect the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood. Much attention is paid to the preservation and publication of documents about modern Russia, symbols of state power and legislation. On the eve of one of the "youngest" public holidays - the Day of Russia, which is celebrated on June 12 - many of them are freely accessible.
The central place in the holdings of the Presidential Library occupies a digital copy of the Constitution of Russia - an instance of the Constitution, used by the Heads of State while taking their oath. Along with it there are published the texts of federal constitutional laws and decrees of the President of the Russian Federation on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, as well as acts that testify the taking of oath by the heads of our state. In 2012, the specimen was supplemented by the act of taking the oath by the current president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
On the website one can see the text not only in digital form, but also view the publication in details: see the binding and cover decorations. Paperback of the original of the Constitution is made of fine red leather, on the cover there is the plated silver Russian coat of arms and the lettering embossed with gold, saying "The Constitution of the Russian Federation."
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, the Presidential Library is planning to create a virtual museum of the Constitution. As part of this project, using the electronic holdings of the Presidential Library, three will be held lessons about the foundations of the Constitution, that will be fun and interesting for both high school students and for children of primary school age.
The website is also featuring the official symbols of the state and the power: the national coat of arms, flag and anthem. The audio file of the Anthem of the Russian Federation is the exact reproduction of the anthem - the official state symbol of the Russian Federatopm, played at ceremonial and governmental events involving the top political leadership of the country. The anthem is performed in strict accordance with the approved musical version and text.
To date, the holdings of the Presidential Library include more than 250, 000 units. Among the digitized materials - printed and handwritten books, periodicals, photographs, maps, official state documents and materials from the personal archives of the state and public figures of Russia - from the Grand Dukes to the Presidents of the Russian Federation. In particular, there are recordings of television broadcasts of the inaugurations of the heads of our state.
Recently, on the website of the Presidential Library was published a new collection on the Russian language as the national language of the Russian Federation.
