 
  The Presidential Library’s contest to bring Russian students together
      September 23, 2013 the first phase of the annual Presidential Library online contest for high school students across the country, "Russia in the Electronic World" was launched. It is held for the fourth time and is one of the most democratic educational projects of the country. Every student having a computer and Internet access can take part in it.
Competitions in various subjects are held in three stages. The first and second rounds are remote ones: after a simple registration procedure participants fulfill the tasks available on the website of the contest online in a limited period of time. This allows students from all over Russia and even CIS countries take join the contest. For example, in 2012/2013 academic year, high school students from 82 regions of the Russian Federation and Belarus struggled to obtain the diplomas of winners. The finalists, as in previous years, will be invited to the Presidential Library or its regional representative office to participate in the third stage of the competition held in person.
The subject matter of the Presidential Library’s contest is constantly evolving. Within the new thematic Year of the Russian language, which was announced at the library on September 1, the traditional subjects of the contest, such as Russian history and social sciences were joined by the third one - Russian language. Each student can try his hand in all subjects, or choose the one which he knows better.
The Presidential Library collections which include over 260,000 items, propose answers to the most part of the contest questions. In addition, the website of the "Russia in the digital world" has a special heading "Reference" including “cheat sheets" for those who compete in knowledge. Moreover, the questions are composed in such a way that high school students in search of answers would master the materials required to pass the unified state examination.
