The Presidential Library supports all-Russian projects timed to the 20th anniversary of the Russian Constitution

In accordance with the Plan of action to the preparation and celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library continues to prepare for the jubilee. In September, the general educational institutions of the country launched a competition of school projects dedicated to the Basic Law. The contest was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science under the support of the Presidential Library and the Association of Lawyers of Russia.

The competition will take place in three stages. The first round will be held among schools within the municipal education, the next one - at the regional level. And the all-Russian final will be held in absentia. Thus, students throughout the country will have an opportunity to take part in the contest, regardless of geographical boundaries.

Pupils of the 1st – 11th grades, as well as the teachers, will be given creative tasks aimed at broadening and deepening students' knowledge of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the formation of respect for the universal and Russian values it promulgates. The winners will be announced on the eve of the Day of the Constitution.

The holdings of the first national e-library in the country will be useful for students carrying out the tasks of the competition. Readers have access to the documents on history, theory and practice of formation and development of the Russian state. These are scientific editions, dissertations which cover the constitutional law, the bills of different eras. Also, the Presidential Library website provides access to digital copies of the first editions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation of 1918, of the three constitutions of the USSR (1924, 1936 and 1977.)

and their versions, it features original texts and publications of the constitutions (charters) of the subjects of the Russian Federation, the Constitutions of the Soviet Union and autonomous republics in different editions. The centerpiece of the digital collection of documents is an electronic copy of the inaugural copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation used by the head of state while taking the oath.

Another project of the Presidential Library is also timed to the anniversary. Not so long ago the Presidential Library and the Academic Educational and Scientific Center RAS - the Lomonosov State University of Moscow concluded an agreement to develop the concept of a virtual museum of the constitutional history of Russia. The work is already under way, and the virtual museum of the constitutional history of Russia will be on the Internet by December 2013. It will be a modern project, aimed to feedback from the community, considering the constitutional ideas and the development of the legal system of the country during the centuries.

The exposition of the virtual museum will be popular and interactive, targeted at different age groups. According to the authors, the project will also be a platform for exchange of views on the modern development of the legal community One of the directories of the virtual museum will be devoted to comments and suggestions.
