The two-story bank building was built in 1902-1905. on the Institute Street according to the project of engineers A. Kobelev and A. Verbitsky. The facades of the building are made in the style of the North Italian Gothic and early Florentine revival with marble columns, refined ornament, emblems of crafts. The brick walls of the main facade are lined with an artificial stone that mimics gray granite and pink sandstone. Decorative turrets in the corners of the building are supported by sculptures of huge griffins. The interior decoration of the bank is replete with stucco molding and carving of the sculptor E. Sal. In 1935, Professors V. Rykov and A. Kobelev built two more floors. This was done with such skill that the bank in its architectural and artistic qualities acquired an even more expressive and monumental appearance. Now the building is occupied by the National Bank of Ukraine. |
