September 8, 1380 at Kulikovo field in the upper reaches of the River Don, the battle was fought between the Russian troops under the leadership of Vladimir and Moscow Grand Duke Dmitry Donskoy and Tatar army led by Mamai.

Sea battle near Tendra Cape won by Russian Navy

9 September 1790

August 29 (September 9) 1790 ended a naval battle near Tendra Cape between Russian squadron under the command of F. F. Ushakov and Turkish Navy ships. Russian Military Glory Day is celebrated on September 11 to commemorate the victory of the Russian fleet under the command of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov over the Ottoman fleet at Cape Tendra in 1790.

Memorial Day for soldiers who fell during the Crimean War of 1853-1856

9 September 1855

On September 9th, the Memorial Day for soldiers who lost their lives during the Crimean War (1853–1856) is celebrated. To show respect for those who gave their lives, the national flag of the Republic of Crimea will be lowered and a black ribbon will be attached to the flag pole. This day, on August 28th (September 9th), 1855 marked the end of the heroic 349-day defence of Sevastopol.

The Treaty of Nystad was signed

On August 30 (September 10), 1721 in the town of Nystad (Finland) the Russian-Sweden treaty was signed. It has marked the end of the North war of 1700-1721.

Council in Fily took place

13 September 1812

On September 1 (13), 1812 during the Patriotic war in the village of Fily took place a War Council that had to decide whether give battle to Napoleon’s army at the walls of Moscow or leave the city without striking a blow.

The Treaty of Adrianople was signed 190 years ago

On September 2 (14), 1829 in the town of Adrianople (today Edirn town in Turkey) Russian and Ottoman Empire signed Adrianople treaty that had marked the end of Russian-Turkish war of 1828–1829.
