Birthday of the outstanding Russian writer Ivan Turgenev

On October 28 (November 9), 1818, in the city of Oryol, the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, one of the classics of Russian literature, was born into the noble family of Sergei Nikolaevich Turgenev (1793–1834) and Varvara Petrovna (nee Lutovinova) (1787–1850).

On November 21, 2023 at 11:00, the Presidential Library, subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, and the St. Petersburg city branch of the All-Russian Society for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments will sign a cooperation agreement. The document provides for the formation of a unified information space of knowledge in the field of history, theory and practice of Russian statehood and the Russian language.

The exhibition “Solovki: Winter Light” available at the Presidential Library

17–31 January 2024
From January 17-31, 2024 the Presidential Library hosts the opening of the multimedia exhibition “Solovki: Winter Light”, dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the foundation of the first monastic settlement on the Solovetsky archipelago. This anniversary, in accordance with the decree of the President of Russia, will be celebrated in 2029.

The Presidential Library and the Admiralty Shipyards develop cooperation

On January 22, 2024 at 14:30 the Presidential Library, subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, and the Admiralty Shipyards will sign a cooperation agreement. The document will be signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Acting Director General of Admiralty Shipyards Andrey Bystrov.

New documents from the personal archives of residents of besieged Leningrad entered the Presidential Library's collections

January 27, 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege. By this date, the Presidential Library’s collections entered with new materials from the family archives of the Ivanov-Rozhnovskys, Malakhovs, and Kulikovs. These are documents, photographs, letters, memories and diaries of residents of the besieged city. The materials are available on the library's portal and can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Students of Tomsk Region learned about the materials from the Presidential Library dedicated to the defence and siege of Leningrad

On January 22–23, 2024, employees of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Pushkin Tomsk Regional Universal Scientific Library, visited school №16 and Tomsk State Pedagogical College. A media conversation was held for the schoolchildren using the resources of the Presidential Library. The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege.

New works by Rostov photojournalist Sergei Venyavsky, dedicated to Mariupol, have entered the Presidential Library's collections. The first author's exhibition of the photographer was held in June 2022 in Moscow, in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Now his works are available on the Presidential Library's portal.

Penza teachers of Russian language and literature learned about the pedagogical potential of the Presidential Library's resources

On February 20, 2024, specialists from the Lermontov Penza Regional Library based on the Penza Regional Center of the Presidential Library held a workshop for teachers of the Russian language and literature “The pedagogical potential of the Presidential Library's resources”. The event was organized as part of cooperation with the Institute of Regional Development of Penza Region.

The Presidential Library hosted the third stage of the Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World

The final of the Presidential Library Olympiad for schoolchildren and students “Russia in the Electronic World” took place on March 12-14. More than 500 people competed to qualify for the second round. In total, this year more than 2.5 thousand children from 66 regions of the Russian Federation and a number of foreign countries joined the intellectual contest, including the first and second stages.

The exhibition of ancient Russian art held in Syria

The exhibition “Faces of Russian Icons. Copies of selected masterpieces from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum" was opened in the Russian House in Damascus. The Presidential Library presented at the World Youth Festival

Educational projects are presented by the Presidential Library, subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, at the World Youth Festival, which is held from March 1 to March 7, 2024 on the Sirius Federal Territory in Krasnodar Territory. The largest youth event in the world brought together thousands of people from many countries.
